    Alice's is seeking a line chef to join the team at Alice’s Restaurant, one of the most celebrated dining destinations in Morris County. You will learn under the guidance of classically French-trained head chef Frances Schoen, who has been working in some of the area’s top kitchens for more than 20 years.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • In addition to hands-on training under Chef Frances, Alice’s offers:
    • Compensation starting at $20/hour

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
    • Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, etc...
    • Plating prepared foods based on senior chef’s guidance
    • Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to requests and on time
    • Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
    • Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
    • Skills and Qualifications:

    At least one year of cooking experience.

    • Excellent kitchen administration knowledge and ability to work as part of a team
    • Strong organization and active listening skills
    • The ability to work on your feet for 10-12 hours a day and lift 30 pounds at a time

    Dishwashers receive direction from the kitchen, and the FOH managers. Dishwashers must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.  Some responsibilities include:

    • Washing and sanitizing of all dishes
    • Garbage and recycling disposal.

    General Job Description:

    • Seasonal Summer Position, Available to work Thursdays - Sundays
    • Servers report to the Manager on duty.  Servers are in charge of the tables in their assigned section, making sure:
    • Arrive to work on time and ready to work
    • Gliders clean and ready for guests
    • Server is highly knowledgeable of menu items, specials and bar offerings
    • Drink orders are taken and delivered in timely and accurate fashion
    • Orders are correctly and accurately documented and sent to bar with any modifications that are needed

    General Job Description:

    • Keep host station organized, clean and maintained at all times
    • Field emergency calls to your colleagues on duty
    • Hosts are often quite literally the first person a customer will come into contact with either in person or by phone. Just like a host of a party, a Windlass host must greet guests as if we have been waiting for them to arrive all day long.  Kind, professional and immediate recognition of customers entering our door is a must.
    • Hosts must know the menu, daily specials, general restaurant information, table sections, dining room stations, and fellow FOH employees on duty
    • Hosts manage the phones, take reservations, record messages and answer customer questions
    • Hosts will take coats and packages from customers (birthday cakes, decorations being dropped off, etc…)
    • On occasion a host may be asked by the manager on duty to assist with service, cleaning tables, maintain the dining room
  • Bussers - The Windlass

    Busser  - The Windlass

    The Windlass is seeking hardworking individuals to join their team!

    A Busser works primarily in the front of the house and is required to tend to many needs of the dining room before, during and after service. Bussers assist the servers in keeping the customer’s needs met.  They also help to keep a clean and properly maintained dining room. A Bussers speed and efficiency helps turn over tables contributing to increased sales volume.  As Bussers have direct contact with customers, it is important that they speak clearly and make eye contact with colleagues and customers alike. Bussers also play a role in helping maintain and uphold sanitation and cleanliness standards.

    General Job Description:

    Bussers receive direction from servers, the kitchen, and the FOH managers. Bussers must be organized, good listeners and even tempered.  Some responsibilities include:

    • Knowing table numbers, seat numbers and service stations
    • Help prepare the dining room for service through cleaning, stocking, setting, bussing and other tasks
    • Clean and reset tables, ensure tables are level, wipe down chairs, keep floors clean
    • Clean and stock designated kitchen and server stations
    • Remove dirty dishes, glasses and silverware from table and take them to the kitchen
    • Stock/restock stations with items needed for service; glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, assorted spoons, sugar caddies, salt, pepper, lemons, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, calamari sauce, steak knives, soup spoons, tablespoons and cocktail forks.
    • Polish silverware and glasses in sanitary manner in service bar area to remove spots and water stains
    • Maintain short, pleasant rapport with guests and answer any questions or listen to their concerns
    • Assist in maintaining general cleanliness of the entire restaurant
